A cooking school is an institution devoted to education in the art and science of cooking and food preparation. There are many different types of cooking schools around the world, some devoted to training professional chefs, others aimed at amateur enthusiasts with some being a mixture of the two.

Graduate from High School. While there are no postsecondary education requirements to work as a cook, many restaurants, cafeterias, and other food service establishments prefer that applicants have at least a high school diploma.

A high school diploma or GED is the basis of admission into ICC's culinary programs. All applicants are required to submit proof of high school graduation or the equivalent in the form of a high school or post-secondary school diploma, GED, official transcript with graduation date, or an official college transcript.
